The ESJ calendar centers around our signature events and is interspersed with pop-up happenings generated by the community that take place throughout the year.

We hold Down to the River between Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur every year. This meditative, transformative event combines plenty of good food and drink with music, ritual, reflection and contemplation to help us let go of the previous year as we prepare to embrace the new one.

LA Exodus is a weekend-long all-ages retreat to the Palm Springs desert that offers a respite from some of the busiest, craziest days of the year: the holiday season. Every December we gather for an opportunity to learn together, rest, and reflect on where we’ve been and where we’re going, individually and as a community. Learn more here.

What do you want out of East Side Jews? Each year we kick it off by we gather our community to talk through what’s worked, what hasn’t, and what we’d love to start seeing on our calendars.

Gather ’round-- it’s story time! Light Up the Night is our annual Hanukkah event, when we gather to light candles and tell tales about all the complicated, mixed up things we say, do and feel to get through the craziness that is The Most Wonderful Time of the Year.

Hot night. Colds drinks. Live music. Sensual surprises. Old friends and intriguing strangers. Love is a varied and wondrous thing.
