East Side Jews is hosting the conversation you WISH you'd had at your Seder.
We did the dipping and the dotting but there is a lot more to this holiday than what’s in a Maxwell House Haggadah. As an ever-questioning people, its no surprise that adults might be doing some Post-Seder pondering. Some of us want MORE. More gathering, more debating, more cups of wine, more progressive cousins. Whether you’re mulling over a question, a yearly conundrum, or ten other Jewish or Passoverish related curiosities, all are welcome to hang with us on the Seventh night!

Four Experts bring unique perspectives and insights to offer their own questions at this Outdoor, in-person, panelish event. Join us Thursday at 7:30 for music, drinks, and plenty of time to discuss Jewish history, Identity, Passover, and probably the state of the world! Who knows where the night will go!

Hadar Cohen is an Arab Jewish multi-media artist, healer, and educator based in Los Angeles. She is founder of the mystical school Malchut, and works to build decolonial frameworks for worshiping God. Hadar is an artist weaving the spiritual with the political and her artistic mediums include performance, movement, writing, weaving, sound and ritual. Caroline Luce is a researcher and lecturer with the UCLA Institute for Research on Labor and Employment who specializes in immigration, labor, and working-class history in the American West. Caroline is currently working on a book called Yiddish in the Land of Sunshine: Jewish Radicalism, Labor and Culture in Los Angeles.
Max Modiano Daniel is a UCLA Doctoral Candidate currently writing his dissertation, A Sephardic Century: The Transnational Entanglements of a Los Angeles Community, 1893-1992. Max was the 2019 Rabbi Joachim Prinz Memorial Fellow and was recently awarded The Friedman Prize for his essay, "Jews, Immigration, and the Limits of Empathy." His research for will be featured in an upcoming book published by Brandeis University Press, as well in American Jewish History.
Rebecca Chess (they/them) is a Torah Studio Educator and blog editor and 3rd year rabbinical student at Hebrew Union College. They love cheese, a good sitcom or historical drama, and talking about hot takes on Torah. They are originally from Canada and currently revel in the sunshine of their new home base in Los Angeles.
