February Community Shabbat

Welcome in Shabbat with music and community!

Usher in Shabbat with music and friends! This will be an SIJCC spin on the classic with a community-led evening of songs, blessings, movement, schmoozing and plenty of time to hang out after. You bring your friends, we’ll bring the wine and challah!

Light dinner will be provided.

WHO:

All are welcome! Whether this is your first ever shabbat or you celebrate every Friday night, this event will be accessible for everyone. All ages welcome, but childcare will not be provided.

WHAT:

We will do a Kabbalat Shabbat ritual led by the community. We will start with with blessings over the candles, wine, and challah, then move into some Kabbalat Shabbat songs, and close out the night with dinner, schmoozing, dancing and hanging! Kabbalat Shabbat translates to “welcoming the sabbath”

WHERE:

SIJCC Inner Courtyard. This will be an outdoor event. The space is ADA accessible. Parking on campus is available but limited.

WHEN:

6:00-6:30: Schmoozing, Candle lighting, Kiddush ( blessing over the wine) and Hamotzi (blessing over the bread) — There will be plenty of wine and Challah to go around!

6:30-7:30 : Kabbalat Shabbat Song Circle— A joyful welcoming of shabbat with singing, blessings and more!

7:30-9:00: Dinner, schmoozing, dancing and hanging!
