Shabbat Talks: Purim, Immigration, Resistance

Heal those Purim party hangovers and revive your spirits with a thoughtful, communal Shabbat.

Join East Side Jews and Rabbi Robin Podolsky for an evening of learning and re-dedication to the lessons of our own Purim story.

In these times of global upheaval and displacement, we remember those immigrant communities in our own country and its borders who are living on the precarious edge. Together we’ll acknowledge where we’ve been, where we’re going, and what is happening in our world today. Rather than being affronted by human difference, we can relish in the uniqueness we all posses. We will learn, we will celebrate resilience and resistance, and we will bring in all things Shabbos. We enter into the refreshment of Shabbat together, so as to emerge and fight through another day.

As Mordechai says to Esther, “Who knows if you have not attained your position for just this moment.”
