A two-part event!

Storytime at 6pm for the kids (and the young at heart), then at 8:30 we’ll gather again for thoughtful, grown up discussion. Details below!

Part 1 - Starting at 6pm

Come show off your wild thing crafts, art, or your usual wild duds for “Reading with Eva”, special Shabbat edition! Early childhood educators and authors Eva Katz and Jordana Lipsitz take you on a “vilde” adventure for all ages to get in touch with their wild side!

Costumes & wild attire highly encouraged, especially for those ages 10+

Printable art and activity materials can be found here.

Part 2 - Starting at 8:30pm

Sendak shed light on the idea of making space for darkness in childhood. In his book, the main character “Max” must sit in the mad, sad, lonely, and scared, but out of it he creates an entirely new world full of imagination and a new social order.

Can sitting in the uncomfortable, as children and adults, help us to create a more bright and radical new world? How often do we tell ourselves or our children things are “OK”, when they are not? Inspired by the life and art of Maurice Sendak we’ll discuss Jewish family and tradition through the eyes of our child-self/children.
